Description
The book presents the first detailed reference on Doughnut Refractive Lenticule Transplantation (DRLT), a groundbreaking sutureless corneal transplantation technique designed for advanced keratoconus. DRLT provides a tissue preserving, minimally invasive solution with negligible rejection risk and rapid visual recovery. The text outlines the scientific foundations, evolution, biomechanics, and surgical design principles that led to the development of DRLT, offering readers a complete understanding of how this innovation transforms keratoconus management. Chapters provide detailed, step by step guidance on lenticule preparation, pocket creation, surgical implantation, complication management, and postoperative care. The book is richly supported by clinical photographs, Pentacam maps, ASOCT scans, schematic illustrations, video clips enabling surgeons to visualize each stage of the procedure. It further includes real world clinical outcomes, comparisons with existing lamellar techniques, and future versions of DRLT under development, offering a forward-looking perspective for researchers and surgeons. The book serves as an essential resource for corneal surgeons, refractive surgeons, ophthalmologists, cornea and refractive surgery fellows, postgraduate trainees (FCPS, FRCS, MS, MD) involved in keratoconus management. It is also valuable for optometrists, vision science researchers and biomedical engineers, ophthalmology residents, academic faculty teaching corneal and refractive surgery modules, eye bank professionals and tissue engineers interested in lenticule applications.
