Description

Retired Congressman Jim Ross Lightfoot (R-IA), offers a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs of the political arena. His remarkable life story reminds us that life is filled with obstacles, and it is through faith and resilience that we can conquer even the tallest mountain. "I was fortunate to befriend and serve with Jim Ross Lightfoot (R-IA) in the U.S. Congress during his self-limited six terms. Orphaned and adopted as a child in Iowa, Jim has enjoyed a wonderful life as farmer, Army veteran, rural radio journalist, subcommittee Chairman in Congress, and law enforcement officer, with his devoted wife Nancy at his side. Jim's memoir is a delightful bit of history - engaging, readable and interesting." - Robert Livingston, retired Congressman (R-LA) "A well written autobiography that provides insight into how the government really can work when it's not broken. A firsthand look from the view of a respected insider, this is a must read for anyone interested in how our government branches can work effectively together." - Steve Higgins, retired director of the ATF "Jim Ross Lightfoot happens to be one of the best storytellers anywhere. He knows that though life has its funny moments, it is no joke." - Mick Guttau, retired Iowa banker and Lightfoot campaign co-chair Jim Ross Lightfoot was born to an unwed mother and adopted when he was a few months old. His adoption story is the nucleus of his strong pro-life stance. He was a Farm Broadcaster for KMA Radio in Shenandoah, Iowa. His name recognition helped to propel him to a Congressional seat from Southwest Iowa in 1985. He served six terms and retired, as he had promised to do in his first campaign.
